PROJECT BRIEF

This two-story house is located on a lot overlooking the main channel of Lake Norman in North Carolina. The house is designed for a family of four. The house has a living room, dining, kitchen, breakfast, half bath, utility, workout, studio, guest with bath, and two car garages on the first floor. The second floor has an office, family room, master bedroom with bath, and two bedrooms with a shared bath. The exterior is metal and redwood. The windows & doors are custom made mahogany & solid maple. The first floors are polished travertine and carpet. The cabinets are mahogany.

The sloping site is a triangle with forty feet at the circle entrance. There is three hundred feet of water front looking out over the main channel. The building is sited with an angle between Garage and house to afford views of the main channel. As you drive down to the house you are not aware of the lake . Walk in the front door and turn to your right and surprise. The house was to be open to the outside and lake from all spaces in the house, giving you different views. The only rooms with doors are the bedrooms, utility ,studio, workout and baths. The house flows from one space to the others.
